Established in 2005 by NYC native artist/graphic designer, M.Tony Peralta, The Peralta Project surfaced out of the overwhelming reaction Tony received from his first group art show in 2004. In the show, Peralta showcased three original paintings, one of them being the crowd favorite “Gaza Strip” aka “Freedom” and as the saying goes, the rest was history. The following year, Tony pressed up his “Gaza Strip” image onto t-shirts and sold them through out some of New York City’s premier street wear boutiques like Probus, Goliath, Vault, World and The Brooklyn Circus, to name a few. The tees were spotted on movers and shakers across the globe.
The Peralta Project is not necessarily a brand and at this point M.Tony Peralta has no interest in extending his t-shirts into a full collection either. The Peralta Project is essentially an extension of Peralta’s artwork and inventive graphic design work printed on a wearable canvas (the t-shirt).
Those who choose to patronize The Peralta Project, like Tony’s artwork, are bold, intelligent, humorous and sometimes defiant trendsetters who run their own race.
